Our Story
Margaret Coglin – 1956
Astrea, founded by Claire and Nathalie, was inspired by Claire’s grandmother, Margaret Coglin— a style icon known as the “Grace Kelly” of Kenya — who was an early advocate for lab diamonds’ ethical and traceable qualities over 25 years ago and who encouraged Claire to sell them when she was older. Motivated by her vision, Claire and Nathalie investigated lab diamonds, discovering their identical qualities to mined diamonds but with a significantly reduced environmental impact and at a more affordable price.
After extensive research, global travels to source the highest quality lab-grown diamonds, and securing key endorsements from diamond experts, gemologists and the main certification institutions as well as Nathalie’s successful track record setting up multiple businesses, Astrea was founded in 2023. The focus was to provide high-quality, sustainable, and affordable lab-grown diamond jewellery, emphasising transparency, certification, and social responsibility.
Astrea is supported by a dedicated team of experts, including gemologists from around the world, designers, PhD experts, and industry specialists, all united by a commitment to excellence and sustainability. This talented group brings together years of experience and expertise in jewellery design, gemmology, and sustainable business practices, ensuring that every piece of jewellery meets the highest standards of quality and ethical production.
Astrea’s mission is to craft jewellery that’s visually stunning with a design ethos of elegance and uniqueness; true investment pieces that can be loved generation after generation. Each piece comes with authentic diamond certification from either GIA or IGI.
